why isn't there more throwing in MMA? i have seen hip tosses and suplexes but not much else. it would seem that shuai chiao throws would be effective during clinching. what techniques could be effective or not?

There are more Shuai chiao techniques in MMA than anything. If you disregard the "style" and look at the throwing concept, you'll see a lot of Shuai chiao concepts. Single, doubles, bodylocks, slams, hip toss and suplexes are all in Shuai chiao. You have to look beyond the "style" and into the concept.

al contrario, there are many wrestling moves, whether it be throwing, grappling, pushing, tripping and the like. The best exposition of shuaijiao is Cung Le, if you ever get to watch his bouts. Remember shuaijiao and qi'na (grappling, pinning, etc are also part of the IMA scenario.

The problem is that many still want to rely on qi and other 'absurd' references when those two are the background of neijiquan.
