Interesting. So, he thinks it's easier to learn how to box, kick, throw and ground fight than it is to learn how to just box.

Genius.

And he says that anyone can learn MMA and make it work well, while you have to be gifted to excel in boxing... Not great advertisement for the system of boxing.

I know what he is saying. Take an average 25 year old former college wrestler or average purple belt BJJ player. Teach the wrestlers some basic submissions and the BJJ players some basic takedowns and teach them both a little boxing and Muay thai. In five years, they can be on a main event UFC card.

An Average 25 year old could not start in Judo, and make the olympics or An Average 25 year old could not start boxing or wrestling and be a top contender.

But there is a reason. Variables to win!You have to be decent in everything in MMA. A great boxer gets taken down and submitted. A great BJJ guy can't get the take and gets KO and a great wrestler finds himself tapping from a choke. Too many ways to win and lose. If anyone's cardio isn't there...they can lose to anyone.

In boxing, you only have to worry about boxing.

If you are the better boxer you win.

Just an uneducated POV from Broner. He apologized later.

Good points, backarcher.

I like to bring up Chael Sonnen a lot because it makes Jake mad. But he is the perfect example. His stand up is pretty good but not top level boxing. He uses it to set up his take downs.

Couldn't you say that about any single activity, backarcher? An Olympic wrestler has to have talent like a pro boxer. Usains Bolt probably won't ever be a fighter but he sure has sprinting talent. For single activities maybe Broner is right. Not everyone can be a good wrestler but if I punch a wrestler in the face I can take him down.

it seems like many boxers, trainers, promoters, and fans are very threatened by the popularity of MMA. this is almost 10 years old but similar.

Mma is very popular but sports like boxing and football are still more popular.
