NEW BOOK

Tim's Discussion Board: Shen Wu : NEW BOOK

Seriously though.. I am very into improving my takedown/defense game right now. So I would like to hear suggestions on books or tapes specifically on this area. Also, does anyone know if there is a reference for takedowns starting from kneeling position?
Sorry if this is a little off topic.

some old school aikido-judo-ju jitsu kata would be a great place to look for ideas on throws/takedowns from the kneeling position.

less esoteric: folkstyle wrestling. I use a half nelson type move to roll someone over from his knees when my other guard sweeps aren't working.

as far as takedown defence? two things: sprawl and practice. do some stand up throwing with different types of fighters (ie the attacks that a judoka will throw will be very different from the wrestler). Time on the mat will be the only thing that improves your sense of balance etc.

Should we address Master Cartmell as Sifu or Laoshr?

Hi Jason,

I've written "Effortless Combat Throws", co-authored "Xing Yi Nei Gong: Health Maintenance and Internal Strength Development," co-authored "Passing the Guard," translated "Practical Chin Na," "A Study of Taijiquan," "The Method of Chinese Wrestling," and the yet to be released "The Method of Chinese Grappling."

I also have a dvd on escapes from standing holds in post production.

Brian's book is "Chinese Martial Arts Training Manuals." The book is outstanding, a one of a kind work. It's available from North Atlantic Books.

Thank you Master Cartmell.
I'm looking foward to the grappling book and definately will be getting ahold of Brian Kennedy's Work.

Master Cartmell:

Would you write a foward for me if I had a book to publish?
O, do not worry it is not one of my lusty romance novels or even a half truth dj bar brawl tale from Mexico!

I was browsing amazon.com and saw your book Jason M Struck. Interesting. Seems like their is a majority of authors left posting on this board!

May I ask what your thoughts are on a diet ONLY consisting of fruits and vegetables and its effects on physical performance?

I'd reckon unless you are eating 70 or so pieces of fruit a day, you probably will not be getting enough protein on an all fruit and vegetable diet.

You might find this interesting: http://www.beyondveg.com/

Greetings, I am an Italian taijiquan student and I enjoyed "Effortless Combat throws" a lot, are there any videos of Master Cartmell around?

Hi Giuseppe, I live in Padua, near Venice, when you come over I'll be very happy if we could meet and talk (and drink some wine, obviously).
ciao
Andrea
