Guys (and gal - that's you Heather), it has been a pleasure and honor to train with you; I've learned from all of you, and I can't wait until I see you again.

You all have an open invitation to Israel. If you come I will demonstrate how to obliterate a suicide bomber with a fa-jing qi blast from 50 feet away (Tim, I hope it's ok to divulge the secret teachings).

You can reach me at haranw@gmail.com

Thanks a million,

Haran

p.s. To Meynard, Heather, B-Rad, Ansari, Danny the kid, and the rest of the past days absentees, fare well and thanks for the fish

Haran,

Enjoy your new life and career. I'll miss seeing you when I do make it to class.

I'll show up on your door step someday.

Shane

Come back soon. I miss hearing stories about crazy filipinos doing kali in nut houses. And that begs the question, why is Meynard walking around w/o INSANE stamped on his forehead? Please enlighten me Dr. Tigre

Haran,

You were on your way to becoming a martial arts legend. You even got a nickname now. I say go get a return ticket back before you get fat and out of shape.

Hey there, I made it to the holly land.
Today I went to my old taiji class. As much fun as it was to see my teacher and old classmates, i was hit by the realization that training without resisting opponents is kind of futile.
I felt restless and a strong urge to choke someone (hell, even to be choked).

Shane, you and the rest of shenwu's mavericks have an open invitation (although for you married men it will be torture).

Abdullah, Meynard is insane, but in a good way, and more people like him in the world would make it a better place.

Peace

I'm glad you made it safe. Now go get a return flight back ASAP. You need to get your blue belt damn it.

Did you leg kick any of your classmates? Did you feel like throwing them down and submit them? Have they felt the power of your palm strikes.

Raise hell in Israel. Show them why they call you Tigre.

By Daniel the Kid on Monday, September 26, 2005 - 11:52 pm: Edit Post

Why DO they call you Tigre? I feel out of the loop now. Oh well, YOU must have lost it though, Haran, if you believe that having more than one Meynard would be a good thing.. Bah, what a crazed place we would live in. The world is chaotic enough with just one. Imagine an army of Meynard trying to take over the world. Ahwell.. Glad to hear you got home safe.. Now I can go to Tim's, since I don't have to worry about Haran tapping me.. Haha.

Hot Israeli chicks? How could you tell when they mostly wear black potato sacks?

I thought they just all covered the faces and just made eeelelelele!!! sound then threw rocks at you.

Am I wrong? Please post pictures, Haran.

I too am glad you traveled safe! When are you coming back?

By Glen R (Unregistered Guest) on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 - 10:26 pm: Edit Post

Dr. Haran,

Don't resist your urge. Go ahead and slap a choke on someone in your Taiji class. Then yell loudly in a Portuguese accent "JoooJitzu". Sorry I wasn't able to say goodbye. You're a likable guy who has good things in store for him.

ps: Stay away from the suicide bombers

By Haran (Unregistered Guest) on Thursday, September 29, 2005 - 05:55 pm: Edit Post

Thanks to all those kind hearted well wishers.

Yesterday I tried a bjj class in tel-aviv. big class 15-20 guys. it was only 1 hour (on other days it's 2). The level is not bad. The instructor is a purple belt who also competed in MMA/Vale Tudo in the US. The place is more than an hour away from my home, so I don't know yet how often I'll be able to go. At least i was able to choke and get choked, so now I feel paifully healthy.
Next week I'll try a Sambo class. There's supposed to be a good Russian instructor in Jerusalem. I'll let you know how it went.

No suicide bombers yet. I think their scarred of my qi blast.

Qi blast? Is that from your special homemade humus?

Greetings from I India,

For the past week or so, I've been backpacking in India. At the moment I’m in a small coastal city called Puri in the state of Orissa. It is an important pilgrimage site, which explains the hundreds of cows in the street. Trying to maneuver with a bicycle between cows, stray dogs (lucky it's not straw dogs), bikes, auto rickshaws, taxis, and trucks can be tricky, but it's great for developing instincts.

I have yet to find a good place for Indian wrestling, but if I do find one, I'll tell about it.

Best of wishes,

Haran

Great to hear from you Haran! I miss you in class, and am glad to hear you are well.

By Tim on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 06:31 pm: Edit Post

Hey Haran,

So when the cows are on a pilgrimage, are they allowed to eat beef?

Let us know if you find a wrestling akhara.

Tim

Tim,
But of course cows can have beef, but only if it's kosher (and I hear that they too prefer pork)...

p.s. I'm reading now that On Killing book. Why did you not teach us how to use the thumb, go up the eye's orbit, and dig out the brain? I am thinking of trying the technique while out here, if I find a willing volunteer.

Greeting from Zion!
First of all, after following the KFSS discussion, I want to offer a 20% discount for KFSS practitioners (especially those who post on this board) towards psychotherapy (the only catch is that I will provide the therapy in Israel). I think it's the minimum I can do.
There is no BJJ in Jerusalem, so for the past few weeks I've been going twice a week to a bujinkan ninjitsu class. Besides 5 minutes of the two hours dedicated to traditional forms (which I do with little faith and no enthusiasm) the rest of the class it MMA, including aerobic and strength training, striking, kicking, take downs, and bjj ground work. I get a good workout, and I put what Tim and the gang taught me to good use. In randori I was able to take down some of the more advanced guys, and in the last class the teacher stopped me while grappling, arguing that I was trying to win too much (what's up with that?).
Anyway, they respect bjj, and lots of good people.
I miss all of you, and as if you don’t know it, studying with Tim at Shen Wu is a true privilege, one I hope to earn again.

Got to get back to the ladies...

Haran

Hey Haran,
Great to hear from you! Glad to hear you are healthy and training. Are you working yet? Somehow I suspect not, and I can't quite figure this out?

Heather, did you install a tracking device on me? How do you know? I'm still waiting for the authorities to finish the bureaucracy of recognizing my degree and training. I signed up to do freelance work in psychoeducational assessment. I'm in the process of interviewing with the army to do an internship as a mental health officer. If that comes through I'll have to go through officer cadet course. 2-3 months of eating dirt and playing soldier. Just the thought of the army making me an officer makes me laugh. I think I'll even enjoy it. I'm definitely in better physical and mental shape today than the days I did my mandatory service. I will be the one that soldiers try to pretend they’re crazy to. Good luck to them fools.
For now I'm enjoying myself a lot. I have time to read good books, train, and I even met someone I'm getting serious with... Datu, I miss training with guys your size. No challenge...

Haran,
Great opportunity (the military gig - not to be confused with the "seriousness" you're pursuing)! I want to hear all about it, so please keep me posted.
Heather
