Hi Guys,
I am curious as to the rules you use at your tournaments. Are they similar to other NHB venues? I did a search but it came up with nothing. I saw a few posts mentioning open palms and face masks and the like but I'm interested in how Tim sets up the rules and the reasoning behind them.
I find it interesting the rule differences in various NHB events and wondered about Tim's. Thanks,
Erik
Hey Erik,
My rules allow full force punches, palms, kicks and knees to the head, body and legs.
Elbow strikes are not allowed.
Any type of throw or takedown is allowed.
During ground fighting, all submissions (including joint locks to the wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles, chokes, strangles, and pressure techniques) are allowed on the ground, with the exception of breaking the fingers or twisting the neck.
Only strikes with the hands are allowed during ground fighting.
Fights are two, three minute rounds. Fighters are scored by three judges.
Points are awarded for solid strikes, takedowns and throws and standard BJJ scoring is used for ground fighting. Strikes during ground fighting are not scored.
Fighters win by knockout, submission or judge's decision.
Fighters wear headgear, a cup, shin pads and 2 oz. MMA gloves.
My Third Annual Shen Wu Tournament is scheduled for early October.
Interested fighters can contact me by e mail (I need your weight, MA background and fighting experience).
Thanks Tim!
Nice to see Tim expanding his services:

If you get killed by Tim, he'll bury you
for free. What a class act!
That's right in your town, Pete.
Yours too. I drove by it the other day and Lynn was wondering why I was chucklin'
My Dad will love this.
I wish they showed a picture of the sign on the site. When i get a chance I'll take a picture.
when and where will this tournament be held?
Johhny,
The event has been postponed till the end of January. I'll post the exact date soon.
The event will most likely be held at Cal. State Los Angeles.
Tim,
Can you recommend a good 2 oz. glove?
These are the gloves I use:

How well do these hold up for training use? I'd heard good things about fairtex, but had also heard that the gloves aren't made to last more than a few fights. Is that so?
Jesse
I've had mine for almost 2 years.
I've been using mine a couple years as well.
Thanks Tim,
I ordered a pair from fairtex and they are on the way. Can't wait to break em' in.
Cool, thanks for the tip.
Jesse
Tim,
Will there be a Fourth Annual Tourney?
Yes,
We are still looking for a venue.
What do you need for a venue?
