Master Babin:
Thank you for taking the time to explain the meditation on how the lust for money can easily ruin lives. This adds depth and wisdom to a prior post that was made under the "yello" name. I offer an apology to any Masters that I may have offended. It is a serious mistake to mistake self knowledge that is applied on to others and accepted as truth (When the truth it may not be!).
Whoflung,
Hell I'm gonna have to nickname you son! Lets see.... Humble eye? The sage? Wandering Al (alchemist), Brother Kane! Thats it. Brother Kane - BK the Grazing Grasshoper. Beter yet GG
Ok GG, so where's all the taoist knowledge from. I am a man who is merely a man that recived years of SS traing from GM Woo. All my Taoist and Buddhist practice came from almost 30 years of direct application of my KFSS education, JHW's Chinese culture and the teaching of Rinpoche Trungpa and a lot of Thomas Cleary interpertations.
How do you see the Taoist/Buddhist philosophy integrated into daily living; how does kung fu culture apply to your daily life? Are you familiar with the Art of Advantge and the Art of Humanity? Tao Te Cing, which translation/Interpertation do you like?
PS Hey App - hows Pan? All good? Dat da boy!
I did a dity on deliberate feeling and posted it under "Xing" I forgot which thread, try spontaneous movement.
See ya,
The Human Cougar le Jack.
IT is Alchemy. East or West it is the same. The words by which it is explained are different sometimes even the symbols. The art, principle, governing science is the same in both. As Yin defines Yang in knowing one you know the other. Bouncing thoughts around in this forum is a great way to examine the diffences or degrees of seperation. Wisdom comes from many directions and wears many faces. To know greatness (Mastery)one must first find greatness (Masters) and than immerse themselves in it(Learn).
GG,
This is the kind of stuff that makes kung fu art.
Not just competive techniques in the quires case, or protection techniques in my case.
30 years of application.
How long have you been at it. I think I've been at it about two or three lifetimes now.
You Cal based?
I live down south almost permanently. Come back for work purposes (more or less) occasionaly.
Still maintain a house in Laguna.
Sits empty most of the time.
Great to have you aboard. Although I give Tim and others a hard time, he is learning to be a gracious about it.
Do you know much about Kwan Yin (speaking of graciousness) and Kwan Kung?
The quire thought it was absurd when I mentiond that CLHFHKFSS was based on the virtues of Kwan Yin and Kwan Kung.
A real superficial bunch, but at least they are dedicated and Tim seems to be a good egg (hard boiled).
They don't understand the importance of a complete education.
I guess that is why I keep lurking around here.
Practice the writing skills too.
Easy Hopper
Not California based, Mexico based. Love So. Cal mucho!!!! Lived in Marina Del Rey for awhile. Is Laguna nice? In Anthony Yu's translation of "Hsi Yu Chi", the Journey to the West, Quan Yin is a Goddess of the Southern Sea. She attended to the "wails" and "cries" of the suffering. Not just those in pain but those about to be executed as well. She may have been a "he" as the Chinese are funny about the roles women play in their society. Today Quan (Kwan) Yin Temple still stands. It endured through the Qing (Ching) Dynasty which Chinese history has remembered as a time of book burning, temple trashing, and unification of the society and language into one. The Jet Li movie "Hero" is based on this Emperor and period of time. Their are two parties that existed at this time and exist today. In the north there is the "Green" Party and in the south the "Red" Party. The "Chings" and the "Hungs". In traditional chinese color symbolism green represents Royalty. Red represents "the warding off of evil" and many chinese alchemist and sorcerers used this color frequently for protection. Red here is not the same as Communist Red. Some southern styles still retain the name "Hong" instead of "Hung" as a reference to this symbolism of red. The Chings of the north believe in rule by government. The Hungs of the south believe that is each person is free to rule themselves. In the south the saying "Down with Ching, restore the Ming" is still popular even to this day. Their are five main temples left in China today. The Shaolin. The Wudang. The Omei (Ermei). The Chung Nan. And the Quan Yin. According to Master Jimmy H. Woo the "fighting section" of this temple no longer exists. The Shaolin Temple has a Bhuddhist base with Chan Bhuddhism being the most popular. There are some White Crane schools that trace themselves into Tibet (For further reference the name "Or Dat Tor"). White Crane is known in both north and south China. The differences expressed in fighting styles between the "Bhuddhists" of the north and "Toaists" of the south is an interesting historical study. South China, particularly the Guandong region, has been at war with north and others (The Japanese during WW2). Fighting in the streets during these times was common. In order to respond to these threats from more highly trained and often better equipped opponents the Toasist favored an instinctive, non-thinking reaction as opposed to a "Form" based reaction. It stressed a strong center and a low stance so that they were able to remain on their feet. When an opponent out numbers your forces 5 to 1 the last place you wanna be is on your belly or back! Many Toasist styles are designed to eliminate or defeat the common police and military tactics often imposed by Emperors' to control the south. Spearheading the martial effort of the north: The Shaolin. This backfired for them in the year 1674 when their temple was razed a SECOND time. As the story goes: Eighteen of the monks wrapped themselves in a huge silk tapestry (Their is mention of a fire proof silk brocade in the Journey to the West). When the fire low enough to escape the eighteen ran out. Of those eighteen five survived. They were known as the "Five Ancestors". Perhaps those five were not from Shaolin Temple. This is a purely speculative thought.
Kwan Yin is known as the "Goddess of Mercy". Mercy has two sides. One side is in the granting of mercy the other side in recieving.
The Goddess Quan Yin is often pictured with her feet on a Black Dragon. She carries in her left hand a flask containing the secret elixir of the alchemist or as is often referred to in China as "The Peaches of Immortality".
According to Master Jimmy H. Woo the "fighting section" of this temple no longer exists in China.
What is Kwan Kung?
Splendid...
You write well.
Do you know about Kwan Kung?
Laguna was my old stomping grounds for years.
Me and my little group started the "putting to Las Brisas" phenomina in the early 80's. Then the clean washed levi set took over with there designer Harley Davidson fashion wear and fagoty factory accessorized stock bikes. Sunday wanna be bikers. Whatever. We'd go down there, get drunk and run off the hob nob clientele. Waitress loved us. Threw money at them also took quite a few home. At that time I lived in Lagunita (Ricky Nelsons old pad)an exclusive guard gate oceanfront community with only 58 lots. My pad was 28 lagunita. Harriet lived down the street. Always used to see her in her powder green 450 SL with the top down wearing a scarf over her hair do and smoking a cigarete with a long stem cigarette holder.
I threw a raging new years eve party the new years Ricky died in the air plane crash (while smoking crack). Heatehr Locklier and Richie Sambora bought the house from me and still live there (they are legally seperated now according to Heather). I was over at thier place (my old house) on the 4th of July, Jon Bon Jovi was there and they all played out on the deck. Did a hell of a 2 million dollar remodel on the place.
Not a Bon Jovi fan. He a sissy but I realy like heather and Rich.
Richie is a hard core bike enthuist, Jon is kinda a square who rode Heather's bike when we ran last summer (Yep she got one and rides it) it an old vintage sporster, its reallys Rich's but she calls it hers and knows how to haul ass. She a Tom boy at heart. Always pouncing on peolr and smackin with her fist, Playful stuff. She still looks good for an old broad and more fun than all their crowd combinded. Drinks like a fish and smokes the out of it.
It's a kinky crowd but kinda down home.
Stomping anywhere is the US seems much more difficult these days. With the legions of army ant citizens relinquishing their civil rights at every turn (Red light camaras, helmet laws, seat belt laws, patriot act, driving as a "Privalege" what next? Eating as a privledge?
Most here are to whimpy to take a stand. They say it is because the water supply has been tainted with estrogen from women flushing birth control pills down the toilet. Who knows.
All I know is everything goes here. Men acting like women, women acting like men. Enough political correctness to gag a magot.
A complete kung fu education develops strong character and leadership. Human Cougars as 3 says. We got a bunch of rats so scared of the pied piper that they work themselves to the ground while following him into a sea of petrol wars.
Ah don't get me started.
I like to pick on the quire because they live in a Bush oasis: The pimple of decadence on the ass of the Elephant.
It's okay to endulge but not at the price of marketing, consuermism and mind wash TV, staus symbols, gotta smell like this, gotta look like that, and if you don't drive this then you suck.

But don't drive Big Gas guzzlin SUV like all the soccer moms and "men" with their compensation complex. Jack's hung like a mule. Smoke em if you got em.
Nough bout me. Glad to hear from a fellow ex-pat. Sounds like you don't dance either?
Dancins for bitches and dancin girls.
Got any kids. I love the little rug rats. Got a mess of em down south and a couple here - and serveral ex's. All most all brown.
I love them little brown fuckinmachines. Love em to death. Best people in the world until you move em to the US. Polutes them. They want frickin Armani next.
My US chick is Cuban. Long legged dancin zombie. Kinky black hair bangs like a fiend. Bless their hearts.
The way I look at it is if it fucs, floats or flys - rent it. Even lease it for a while.
See ya Hopper.
Not so policically correct Jack.
You are correct Senior V.....No dancing here. No kids. Yes, Sir Cuban's are a wild ride. Rent it. Lease it. But do not get involved in Fractional Ownership!!!. Thank You for the compliment on writing "up to par". Thanks for your graciousness.....Its nice to be aboard Skipper.

"Thank you all for being here today. We have come together today to remember a President who history remembers as the great cummuni-macator.....?!!!

PS. Do you REALLY know Bon Jovi?
Dear Many Jacks;
I used to talk to people like you decades ago when I was a volunteer with a telephone sucide/counselling service in my community; like your posts that experience was rarely entertaining and often sad.
I have no complaints about Paladin Press as an author; they have treated me in a very professional manner. I can't say the same about the editors of most of the American martial arts magazines that I dealt with when they published my articles in the late 80s and early 90s. Oh, except for John Corcoran, who some of you may remember from Karate and Kung Fu Illustrated.
Hopper aint me.
Oh the rescuer type!
No wonder you sit high on the horse.
How come you are in Canada? Did you flee the Vietnam war?
Everything personal Babs, but if you want to color the proverbial stick brown, there are others ways of doing it that wont posture you at such high altitutudes. I suggest you remove it, carefully.
Lovingly yours,
The Smart Ass Jack
Master Jack:
Could you please point me in the right direction for more material on Kwan Kung. This is a reference to the art or teachings of the famous statue of the virtuous man holding the Kwan Do (A.K.A. head chopper). Correct?
In the chinese book Journey to the West the protagonist of the story is the Monkey King. In chinese the name Sun Wu Kung. It goes on to explain that the word "WU" can also denote spiritual strength and martial prowess as well as the number "5". Is this why Master Jimmy H. Woo chose this name?
