Ditto, Brian. Neither Tim nor I are good at marketing- we need all the help we can get.
The next two DVDs are going to be great!
Shane
Hi Shane
Any hints about the contents of the dvdīs?
Tobias
Hi Tobbe,
Here's a hint... the next DVD is round and has a hole in the center.
At this point only Tim knows what the next DVD will be- he's mentioned doing one geared toward 'surviving the ground for the non-grappler'. Which, I assume, would cover the must-know basics & tactics for avoiding and surviving the ground fight. Including single and two person excersises and drills. But all I know is we're filming something in April.
I'm hoping we'll do a Sun Style Tai Ji Chuan form, applications and practice drills DVD afterward. If it turns out the way I'm envisioning it, it will set a new standard for IMA DVDs.
I suppose it would help nudge Tim along if a few hundred interested people Posted or Emailed letting Tim know there's a real demand for a Tai Ji DVD from him.
Shane
Every single DVD on Sun Taiji stinks. Tim has some of the most comprehensive details and lessons out there. His students have been begging for quite some time!!
Jake
The 'stinky' part may be part of his reservation. It's going to be extremely difficult to capture the beautifully powerful and devestaing nature of Sun Style Tai Ji Chuan on film.
Judging by 100% of the tapes & dvd I've seen it may be impossible to make a product that is instructional & stimulating without appearing hokey (though I can assure you no silky PJs will be worn).
I think we can do it. But it's easy to be bold when you're behind the camera.
Shane,
I could put together clips from seminars and lessons Tim has given us, and it would be 100 times better than anything on the market. Tim's teachings transcend all silly BS and cut straight to the bone. Make it, and they will buy!
Jake
I would buy it for sure.
Craig
I would definitely buy a Cartmell DVD on Sun Tai Ji Quan. I'm considering buying the DVD showing Sun's daughter perform the long form, but I'm sure Tim Cartmell's would be far superior.

Hi Shane
Both things sounds great.
I have a lot of MA- books, - dvs etc and none of them has the quality thatīs in Timīs work.
He has a way of explaining difficult stuff in a way that everyone ( and that even includes me) understands it.
I wrote about the new dvd ( which I thinkīs excellent - it really feels like youīre there) at a MA - forum and I got replys like "Cartmellīs work always mean quality", good stuff, kudos to the man for putting out the demo on the net" - so judging from this I would say thatīs thereīs a interest in Timīs work And if He would consider to do a dvd on Sun style with form, applications, drills I really think it would sell - I for one would buy it - And nag about it on forums
Tobias
Sun Taijiquan and Sun Baguazhang, he could do a whole Sun Style series. I imagine it would sell like crazy.
And within months charlatans all over the world would say that they have the exact same applications.
And within months charlatans all over the world would say that they have the exact same applications.
but would they say it twice?
By the way- I spent a few years in Charlotte, and for the most part Charlotans are down-to-earth, good people.
Well there's gonna only be so many variations of applications on the same techniques, but I know what you mean.
And Bob #2, you're the coolest. ;)
ror.
If less-competent teachers around the world study Tim's stuff and try to match what he is doing it only improves the instruction they are giving to their own students. Sounds like a Win/Win to me.
I too would definitely buy a Cartmell DVD on Sun Taijiquan.
I said a long time ago that I'd buy a Sun style video produced by Tim. I agree with Jake that none of the Sun style stuff out there is adequate -- for the taiji or bagua. Plus, it goes hand-in-hand with the book, so it's good for crossmarketing purposes.
Here's a new preview of Tim's Standing Grappling DVD
