Hi Tim or anyone,
I was wondering if someone could help me out with a question I 've been having.
I've been thinking about the way I have been taught to do a hip throw in Judo - I turn into my opponent and stay on the balls of my feet throughout the throw.
And then I was interested in seeing the hip throw on your (Tim) new dvd, rolling onto the balls of the feet and then come back onto the heels (sorry if I explained it wrong).
I was just wondering if the throw has different body mechanics or if it is just a very slight difference.
Thanks,
Craig
Hi Craig,
The body mechanics are fundamentally the same, I emphasize loading the opponent onto the hips and then shifting the weight forward to lift him off the ground without having to use any lifting strength in the legs.
Great, Tim - I will have to try that out tomorrow. Thanks.
Craig
if you want to drive forward, you can do that off the toes.
if you want to drive up, it's nice to have your heels on the ground.
