While looking up the DVD Sample on Youtube .. ( Was too lazy to come here for a link. )

I found an old video of a man, Xie Pieqi, who was demonstrating Ba Gua Zhang. ( to my knowledge anyway. ) The man was performing on a man by the name of Tim Cartmell.

How long ago was this?

Excellent! will it be viewable by European DVD players?

By Tim on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 06:55 pm: Edit Post

Hey Danny,

That was about 1990 or so. Back in the day when I worked as a translator, I'd let a lot of the old masters demonstrate on me. Invaluable experience.

Xie Peiqi was a very cool old gentleman, and tough as nails.

Andrea,

It should be viewable on European & Asian players. We'll double check with the duplicator.

Here's another review of Tim's Standing Grappling Escapes and Counters DVD

"For Tim and the Shen Wu people thanks for all your great work on the dvd - I am grateful that there are people around willing to take the time to make something of this quality - much appreciated. And I look forward to any future productions or publications.

I just received the DVD! I am sooo happy... but I just can seem to turn the sound on, which codec was used?
Thanks from the fringes...

Hi Andrea,

I'm not positive which codec was used.
I think it was Mpeg-4 or Avi (the software used was Pinnicle Studio 9 &10).

I'm not sure if the duplication company converted it to a different codec.

Are you trying to watch it on a PC or on a TV/DVD player?

Ok: here's the situation: sound works on the tv/dvd player but not on the pc...
Thanks again
Andre

But is it ever going to be available on VHS or BETA?

Hi Shane,
I thought very highly of the new standup grappling defenses dvd. I typed up that review awhile back. I had hoped to get it in some of the cop magazines but no such luck. So what I did was post it on some of the cop/self defense forums.

Also too my wife and Is next piece for Classical Fighting Arts magazine will be on Taji as a grappling art and will have a sidebar feature on Tims new dvd.

So I am just doing my part to get the word out on an outstanding dvd. I should mention on a personal note, I drill all the defenses in that dvd on a regular basis. Tim and the rest of the Shen Wu crew did a superb job on that project.

Take care,
Brian
