In my fight with the guy in black I was winning 7 to 6 and they made me go to overtime with him where I got caught in an inverted triangle from under my cross side.
Here he is again with more controversy in the same night. To be honest I'm not sure if the other guy in this video tapped or not.

I think the guy tapped to be honest but he probably shouldnt have but he did.
This is the part of competitive grappling that I don't like...
He tapped. He either tapped just as he realized he could get around it, or tapped once to trick his opponent, but that was a match-ending tap.
yeah you guys are probably right about him tapping but you can't really blame me for being a little biased.
hey derek i tried looking at the video but it had a clip of some other dude's fight.
JP
JP, I'm not in the video. It's just a video of a guy I fought against.
You can hear Chewy yelling. XD
I heard someone yelling, I didn't know it was Chewy though.
Looked like he tapped but If I were the ref I would've let it go. They should have a rule about tapping, one tap shouldn't be enough, you should have to tap two or three times, fast.
yeah but you cant tap and then change yer mind which is what he was trying to do
waiting for a second tap could result in a painfully hyper-extended elbow or knee (or worse).
someone mentioned using a tap as a tactic to get out of the submission. back in the days before i realized i was too good to be taken to the ground, whenever in a heated BJJ tournement i would chant 'TAB, TAB, TAB' at intervals. (i had my gee done up to look like i was sponserd by TAB, the soft drink, just in case some ref tried to pull a victory from my clutches.

I agree with you Vince Especially in a competition setting. In everyday training though I think if there's even a question that the guy you're sparring with tapped it's better to just let go.
not to be all lawyer like, but if we are looking for some type of precedent (although this happened after derek's match) a similar situation happened during the TUF finale.
CB dolloway got caught in an armbar, tapped once casually like it was a 'dojo' reaction, kept going, but herb dean stopped the match and ruled it a tap.
on the other side i remember when ed herman fought kendall grove. grove caught Herman in two triangles and the first one made herman tap more than once. even though the crowd and grove corner were going nuts, the ref was behind herman at the time, didnt see it, and ruled no tap.
JP
The actual rule is the fighter is supposed to tap twice or more in rapid succession.
hmmmm. Then I call shenanigans!
speaking of shenanigans... here's my new favorite female (no offense to Adam Smith's wife)

derek i think you need to fight in another pankration to avenge your loss.
I'd like to fight again but at a lower weight. Those guys were strong and I still have a little bit of a gut i could get rid of.

Thanks JP I saved that link to my faorites.
Hey Garrett, Tim said you just won a jiu jitsu tournament are you going to post a link to your videos? btw congrats!
Hey Derek do you think you can drop to 185 and fight in the next pankration, july 26. My right thumb is kind of injured, I can't really punch with it. Or at least be an alternate in case it gets worse and i can't fight.
Derek heres the link to my first fight .
I dont think anyone got the next two. The guy was quite young and bounced a bit on his feet. I had also dropped a weight class below waht I usually fight .

That's awesome Garrett it looked like you rag dolled the guy.
Vince, let me think about it. I wasn't expecting another Pankration tournament so soon. I was kind of hoping to compete in a Jiu Jitsu tournament next.
thanks Derek.
