Justin came out from Chicago to train with me for a week a couple of months ago. He wanted to work on ground grappling and we spent about three or four hours going over basic throwing combinations.
Following is an excerpt from an email he sent me yesterday, it is more evidence that a little diligent practice of practical techniques correctly taught can prove useful "for real" in a very short period of training time. It is also a reminder of how suddenly and randomly violence can occur.

"While I was waiting, two guys crossed the street and jogged towards the bus stop cubicle. I thought they were running to catch the bus, but one kept of running straight into me, pushed me up against the glass and tried to put me in a headlock. When I resisted, he started punching me, but only hit my forehead. When he stopped for a second, I used the turning single leg to dump him back but he threw his hand out against the bus stop cubicle and stopped his fall, so I switched to the ankle pick of the far ankle and but he stepped his leg out out. He seemed off balance so I went back to the turning single. This time, his back was to the street so he had nothing to hold onto, and he went straight to the curb with a loud cracking sound. He was curled up in a fetal position, holding his head. The second guy took of running.
The jist of the story is, the throw series worked, just like you taught it!"
There have been quite a few similar cases with my students over the years. Some have trouble believing that the average person can learn to defend themselves against real violence in a short period of time, but my students have proven that it is so time and again.
It's important to note what I teach and what we practice is done almost exclusively in the context of "combat sports" training (i.e. practicing only techniques which can be applied realistically in non-cooperative sparring training).
Yeah, but does it have "internal power?"

Awesome!
WELL SAID AWESOME!!!
Same thing happened to me one time. Luckily the guy didn't know how to get out of a headlock.

"Internal power " - lol
"He was curled up in a fetal position, holding his head. The second guy took of running"
Love it!
