How does Shen Wu go about training women and really small women?

At my school there is a really small woman who is 4'11" and weighs about a hundred pounds. All the guys go easy on her during sparring and she never gets hit. She has developed a false sense of confidence. Also, she studies ta ji. When doing push hands she responds to any forward power by sinking her center and rolling her hands back. I think that might be an ok tactic for someone big and tall but not for her size.

I cant speak for shen wu, but usually girls go against girls, and when they go against guys, yes, guys do take it easy on them. According to skill level. If its a controlled environment with a good teacher, you're good.

The concept of "beating" has two meanings.
1. It is a way for people to make themselves feel better and gratifying their own ego.

2. Pay attention, robert, cause this definition pertains to you. The "beating" you do isn't internal at all. In fact it requires external brute muscular force and an external source(the $39.95 website you pay for monthly). No one is judging you so please don't feel bad.

I don't agree that girls should work with other girls. Two timid girls are just going to stand there and stare at each other. Men and women should interchange with each other hopefully creating better skill sets and making it less uncomfortable for men and women to be around each other.

I agree. In one of my classes I have a small woman, 4'8" and 89lbs. I instructed my sub-instructors, staff and students that to help her improve we must all treat her as if she was a 6'3" 400lb male.

Shes taken some serious knocks and bruises; and of course she's never bested anyone within the school walls. But she's a lot tougher than she was when she arrived. In fact, she was nearly comatose when she started the class. My fair treatment of her was the therapy she desperately needed.

Did I mention that she's 86? She always makes these hilarious little noises as the orderlies drag her into the federally-required PE class twice a week.
