Nice work at the tournie, Jake!
Thank you sir!
I want to say congratulations to Brian Johnson and Jake for winning their divisions at the No-Gi Worlds last weekend. Those are big wins.
Thanks also to Brian for putting on a great seminar in my school.
I just checked this month's Asian Journal of Martial Arts and didn't see Tim's article. Is the article in the Decmber issue
There are not monthly issues bro. As I mentioned in my blog post it is due out in the next week or so. Look for the cover that I have on my blog.
Jake
I just received a copy of the magazine, it's Volume 18, No. 4.
Thanks to Michael DeMarco for including my piece.
Tim and I got advanced copies because we wrote article in them, so you subscribers should be getting them now, and they will hit newsstands in the next couple of weeks.

Cool,
Always look forward to anything that i can access by Tim!
Over the weekend I sat down and read Tim’s article. I learned a lot from it and thought the photos and techniques were great. An outstanding job.
Since I moved back to California I have been doing judo and have really been enjoying that. Sticking and following are such crucial parts of throwing and it was great to read what Tim had to say about those concepts in a Chinese setting. One of my major failings doing judo is not having the right contact with my opponent (not sticking correctly). It becomes real obvious in judo if there is not the right back to chest or chest to chest contact (sticking) then the throw ain’t going to work.
It probably is quite amusing to the upper belts, when one of the lower belts (for example me) fails to get the right contact (for example on a shoulder throw not getting solid back to chest contact) then I am just standing there yanking on the opponents gi sleeve, the opponent is just standing there looking at me and the Sensei dryly comments, “there was a gap between your back and his chest, the throw will never work that way”.
So Tim’s article provides an important lesson.
Take care,
Brian
Thank you sir.
Yes, its very amusing. :P
Cheers. Rob
So, um... Where is the article? I am struggling with finding the actual article. lol. help?
Or do you have to find the actual mag?
Just got a copy of Asian Martial Arts with Tim's article today. It's pure gold as usual. Lot's of very useful information, well written and jargon free (unlike so many other authors writing about IMA).
Thanks for taking the time to produce such high quality material.
Craig
Thanks Craig.
Robert, you have to buy the magazine to get the article.

Picked up the mag today. Nice work! I also really liked Hackney's _Aristotelian philosophy of the martial arts_ piece.
Hmm,
well, if it will help you guys out, of course i'll pick one up.
Ive seen the mag before, and they look more like small novels. Good quality magazine if you ask me.
I usually just read the mag in the store until the shopkeeper kicks me out. lol
Btw, nice blog jake (exclamation mark)
Thanks Robert!
Of course.
I wouldnt say it if i didnt mean it.
tc everyone.
