Neither do I idolize teachers nor do I attach my own ability to theirs. Ma is just one person of many. I didn’t pick Ma and don’t defend Ma, he spoke for himself through a post by THE and so has Tim. I only compared the two.

Reality fighting examples.

When I first started MA I learned from a white guy who grew up in an orphanage on an Indian reservation. He had a one mile walk to school and almost everyday he was beat up usually by more than one Indian kid normally with sticks. As he got older the anti was upped to forks, knives, shop tools and anything they could get their hands on. He never graduated upon reaching age of adult because he was busy tending wounds, sometimes for months, other times terrified of the walk to school. He learned how to fight in reality. I would bet my money on him anyday. He is currently considering a movie title based on his life experience after the success of The Hunted. Around the age of 25 he started learning IMA and has done so now for 25 years, his musings about reality fighting and IMA are very interesting to say the least.

My arnis teacher who grew up in the Philippines is 65 now learned directly from death match arnisadors. He has seen the inside of many bodies, and many body parts. He won’t talk about deaths, but knows some who are in prison for a long time. After several years and close friendship with his teachers he was finally taught how to fight in the context of reality. They are very different.

If you want to learn to drive do you practice on an arcade driving game with the fake steering wheel and fake gas and brake pedals, or, do you get in a real car and drive on a real road? If you want to learn to fight do you practice in a dojo and wear tights in front of an audience, or, learn on the street or in a prison yard?

It’s hilarious when arcade fighters talk about reality and then call others chi huggers.

These two "Masters" you talk about must be deadly. We have to take your word for it. Take my word here, Tim Cartmell, Su Dong Chen, Luo Dexiu and some of the current crop of "High Level" IMA teachers would probably crush both your "Masters" without breaking a sweat.

One more question. Have you ever farted around with mere sport fighting? If not, you might want to experience a little before discounting what it takes. I've found it much more difficult (and enlightening) than fantasizing about mysterious, more than normal powers.

So far, you've named two "masters" with little credibility and one respected IMA to back your claim. Others and I have mentioned several times more fighters and teachers whose takes on the matter can be verified either through word-of-mouth or their writings. Now I ask you, who has a better position for this argument?

Tim said you "get frustrated and unable to answer questions" because that's all you've done so far. You're searching for the RIGHT answers but posing then arguing the WRONG questions. By asking (and arguing about) the wrong questions you cannot prevail in any discussion.

I can promise you that if you show up at Shen Wu you'll be welcomed and will have the opportunity to learn deeply everything you're interested in.
And until you learn how to understand and explain your thoughts and desires- you're going to keep getting stuck in mud and braying.
