Hi I'm 24, I've been practising bagua for a little while now but used to practise Tai Chi in my 'youth'. I haven't been in a street fight for a number of years (and fingers crossed will never be again) so I don't really know whether my combat abilities are that good, and yes before you lot start we do spar etc.. My question to the community is this: what benefits have you experienced through your practice?
Aside from the better posture, not getting ill I have found 2 pretty unique effects:
1 Dancing - I used to be rubbish and pretty embarrassed to strut my funky stuff but now loads of ladies come up to me and ask where I learnt to move like that. The foot work and coiling movements are perfectly suited to the dance floor..similar experiences at your end?
2 Total body orgasm - this has only happened a handful of times (no pun intended but wow. I thought it was a myth and do not practice any tantric/taoist sexual techniques but what can only be described as a building pressure in my lower stomach followed by a pleasurable pins and needles sensations running up and down my front and back - I could even feel it in my teeth - and it lasted for about five minutes.
So apart from the aforementioned obvious - health and fighting - has anyone else had similar experiences?
My girlfriend enjoys the fact that I practice Chi Kung... she gets a total body orgasm, and I get scratched to shreds.

Mudfoot, I don't practice Bagua, but I've had similiar experiences. The ability to control one's motor functions and moving with freedom obviously contributes to your first point. The second, proper posture practice results in an involuntary extended Kegel exercise effect (at least for me).
What else do you need? Are you looking to have a total body orgasm during a "Street Fight"?

I definately have to agree with the dancing. My dancing has improved amazingly, and I get the same comments from my g/f's friends. Whereas they used to never dance with me, now I spend more time dancing with her friends than I do her
As for the sex I would have to agree somewhat. I'm not experience earthshaking organisms, but my control and "intent" (har har) have improved greatly. As for the lady enjoying it more, well I think that has come from my recent intrest in chinese traditional medicine. Knowing certain miridian lines and being able to trace them while doing the matress mambo send her through the roof.
What else... Well my entire body has gone for soft and mushy to hard and solid over the past 5 months. Thats a definate plus, but this comes more from my own determination to keep up with the warmup not just in class 4x a week but on my offdays.
I definately have more mental patience. Things that used to send me through the roof only slightly get my blood boiling now and I can physically control myself more often.
I dunno theres just a ton of crap that has come with learning my mix of xing yi/bagua.

mudfoot, um...look it up on the net, you'll probably get a much better description than I can give you here. Bear in mind that the only standing practice I've done is with a shaolin type horse stance. You gotta get it just right. The description of a kegel will let you know just the angle you are striving for. Best part is, the stance will let you hold an extended kegel right off the bat, where if you just do kegels, you gotta work up to it over a period of weeks.
I gather that the Kegel Manuever has been somewhat discredited in recent years for medical purposes and is not prescribed as routinely by gynaeocologists as it once was.
As to "lifting and squeezing" your nether regions when doing lifting or qigong, you're best learning it from someone who knows what they are doing.
Older martial artists have been known to give themselves hernias by overdoing the activity.
