I have not sparred using Parks "system" but after reviewing the first book and tape I got the second also. I changed my training program as his method may so much more sense. There is no question as to its usefullness. You just have do your homework, just like in anything else.

Thank you Mark. I continue to do my homework, of which the questions were just a small part.
The book is very systematic in its approach and stresses basics - something I appreciate from my Wado ryu days
Anyone else?

I practiced with Park for over 5 years in Baltimore. The way he teaches is very martially/combat focused. He also stresses the principle of lien huan (continuously moving), being fluid as you say. The power methods are taught from day one and are refined with practice. I made a lot of progress with Park's method. I started with him in the early 90s and am familiar with mostly all senior students. If you have anymore questions just e-mail me.

Park's methods are very combat and health oriented...each one feeding the other.

Health aspects are awesome. Develops the chi fully. Starting at the most basic levels. Each form or exercise will develop your chi in a slightly differnt way. You'll come to really be amazed how detailed his system and the depth of his learning is.

Power (fa jing) is very important in his system. He shows you the way...up to you to develop it. His method will help you develop the internal strike using any part of your body. Shouder, elbow, palm, fist, finger..etc.

Park's methods are very fluid. Each movement feeding into the next. That's also how he teaches the fighting. Just watch him perform any movement or even just walking.

Combat methods are taught w/in the first year. Meaning basics. Building up footwork reaction drills, basic hand work, building up reflexive reactions, building the "kung fu body." Full or free fighting takes awhile. There is free fighting.

Teaching ability is excellent. True internal development is seen as key and will take you from the ground up. But the key for the beginning student is to hold yourself back. Do not ask for new things to learn. And if you show dedicated practicee and true willness to master the basics (1000s upon 1000s of repetitions) that's where the true skill comes to play and better instruction will follow. Shows that you are not just another kung student. But one who seeks the way. But as it turns out the practice is it's own instructor...oddly enough.

Thanks to paperweight and jstal. Your responses were informative and honest. With so much controversy on the topic of Mr. Park's Pa Kua, it is good to get real information.

Hey paperweight,
MY GOD ARE YOU PARK'S BITCH. NO ONE UP HERE CARES ABOUT YOUR TEACHER UP HERE, WHY DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT SOME REAL GOOD PA KUA EXPERTS,LIKE TIMS TEACHER LUO DEXIU, YOUR TEACHER PA KUA TRAINING IS KIDS PALY NEXT TO LUA DEXIU METHOD.BEFORE YOU ASK, YES I TRAIN WITH YOUR TEACHER. YOUR TEACHER METHOD IS NOT PA KUA BUT MOSTLY WATERED DOWN SOUTHERN PRAYING MANTIS STUFF......TO BAD YOU THINK YOU ARE LEARNING SOMETHING.

Sub F.

HE ASKED FOR AN OPINION AND I GAVE IT. SOMEONE DOES CARE ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY ASKED THE QUESTION. YOU HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH PARK NOT THE BOARD. TRAIN A YEAR AND THINK YOU KNOW THE SYSTEM? TRAIN HARDER AND MAYBE YOU WOULD SEE THE QUALITY OF WHAT PARK TEACHES.

Indeed. But the saddest thing is how BT needs to hide behind other names. Isn't that right Big Ron, oops, I mean Submission Fighter?

I don't think BT, is hiding from anyone,He told you guys straight up his opinion about park. It seems like you guys are the ones, hiding and not willing to fight the man.

Right paperweight, or what are you calling yourself today on this discussion board, The WAY. I'm not one of Bt students. I'm one guy who also think park Pakua is a lot of hot air.

If you think Park is a lot of hot air good for you. I think Park is one of the few teachers around that has true Pa Kua.I only gave my opinion because someone asked.

We are all Pa Kua brothers.

No bad things to say about BT or anyone.
