Tim (and others),

I was directed here via Kungfuonline. I was told you may have information concerning Luo De Xiu doing a video on this subject. If so, I would be interesed in obtaining it, and if not, perhaps you can direct me to a good video or pictorial description of the exercises...

Thank You,

Mark Weems

Luo has two instructional videos available on the Gao style, You can get them from Unique Publications.

The "eight animals" are not specific forms, they are the "flavors" of the last line of eight Hou Tien forms.

Tim,

Interesting, though I learned them as forms from Marcus Brinkman during a seminar, and a linking form that brings them all together. So, are you saying that they are parts of the bigger Hou Tien form?

Mark,
Right, each of the eight forms in the last line of Hou Tian has it's proper name describing it's primary energy as with the other straight line forms (Dou, Li, Xi, Kua, Yao, Shan, Heng, Zuan) as well as an animal "flavor" associated with each form (Dou is associated with the bear; Li is associated with the wildcat...).

Tim,

Thanks... Actually, that is the way I learned them (Dou, Li, Xi, etc) and it was my mistaken assumption that they were considered animal forms. Marcus did stress that we were supposed to take the "concept" from them. Like for Monkey - Sucking in and spitting out. In any case, thanks for the clarification.

Sincerely,

Mark Weems
