Tim and Michael,
Thankyou for your replies.
Tim, I think you did a great job translating Sun's taiji book with your footnotes, especially considering Sun's writing style. I've got the Albert Liu translation but I wish you did the translation.
Do you know who is now considered the standard-bearer of Sun Lu Tang's martial arts?
I've seen articles in Chinese MA publications with students of Sun Jianyun who trained with her for a long time and who are teaching.
I don't know if she actually chose anyone as a successor.
Tim, I've been studying "Sun Style BaGua" for about 8 years now, but am interested in seeing some DVD's or Tapes on the pre-post Heaven and animal forms from other masters in the style. Are you aware of any that cover these? Robort
Robort,
I've never seen any tapes I would recommend.
Is that a real name? Robort?
How do you feel about the differences in the forms that the Chinese gov't i.e Sports Univs teach as opposed to the traditional form(s) that Sun Jian Yun teaches? I have noticed that the gov't didn't use her as an advisor on the formulation of the new forms, kind of a slight in my book, and doesn't say much for their methodology, although I have learned those forms as well as trained with Madame Sun's group.
I guess the changes would be due to purpose. Sun Lutang was a fighter.

Is sun Style Baguazhang perfectly symmetrical?
Yes, the forms are done on both the left and right sides equally.
