What is the DVD on?
Also in the forums it states that Mr. Lei has "Changed" the form? Care to elaborate?
Thanks
Jake

Hi Jake,

My teacher has developed a shorter version of the Sun Taiji with most of the repetition removed, which is what the clip is of. Though he also teaches the 97 step form. We have found this shorter version easier to teach. He was taught by his Grandfather who was a disciple of Sun Lu Tang and he also followed Sun Jian Yun for many years after his grandfathers passing.

Cool. Thanks.
Never quite sure why people shorten the Sun form, as it is already pretty darn short. But to each their own.
Thanks
Jake

Hi Jake,
The version we practise is 76ish movements and the original is 97 movements, I don't think it is particularly short but that also depends on the speed of your practise I suppose. In the shortened version we aim for between 8-12 minutes and the 97 form we aim for 12-15 mins. My teacher has 55yrs experience and must have felt there was a need in his experience for a shorter form to teach. Sun Jian Yun developed a 13 step form!

regards

Bob
