Hello Tim and board, in the past I've found your advice to be of great help in my martial practice: I've taken up judo and boxing (and a wee bit of BJJ in Robin Gracie's Gym), while training in Chen Taijiquan with my Chinese master. Now, my teacher is leaving and I (being the "oldest brother") find myself invested of the role of Taijiquan instructor; wishing to teach not only forms and tuishou, I am preparing also a bit of techniques and sparring. Is there a good dvd on Chen applications and combat?
Thank you all for your past and future advice.
Andrea
Ciao Andrea,
I would get a copy of Tim's "Effortless Combat Throws" to give you ideas on applications and techniques. The book and video are a great place to start.
Don't be afraid to experiment and pull apart what you know and put the pieces back together based upon the principles that you learned and ideas you get from the other arts you've studied.
Nulla č nuovo sotto il sole.
You have to becareful when you start to teach techniques and sparring to some people. You might lose some students because some students will believe that all you have to do in Arti marziali is forms and magic will happen...
Chi pių sa, meno crede...
Good training,
Joe
