Chan Su Jin in ground fighting

Tim's Discussion Board: Jiu Jitsu/Grappling/Ground Fighting : Chan Su Jin in ground fighting

Hi, is it possible to apply chan su jin in ground fighting? I've been doing CMA, including Taiji for some time and recently started BJJ. In all the CMA i've taken, the development and application of chan su jin skills were emphasized greatly. Now that I am on the ground, I feel like *conceptually* I should be able to apply the same thing, but can't quite figure out how to do it. So my question, how do you develop silk-reeling power when you're not able to use your feet and legs? Are you supposed to use it to a smaller extent and instead use other parts of the body? Are there certain BJJ technique that could benefit from or already posses CSJ type energies? Or is this even a valid question to ask?

jason,

feet and legs are secondary. waist mobility does fit as a basic element in IMA (chansujin concepts)
while the primary tasks are cardiovascular conditioning followed by application training, which BJJ teaches well. I am sure any qi'na, shuaijiao, etc fits well.

if you lack the physical conditioning, everything else is useless.

Jason,
Maybe it would help if you thought about developing force from your hips/center.
