Good find.
one of the guys - probably the defender - is Viking Cronholm - the guy who introduced jiu - jitsu in sweden. He wrote a book called "Jiu-Jitsu Tricks" and , I think, it has 34 reprints.
I found this in the swedish wikipedia. I translated it via google so it might be not that accurate
" Viking Cronholm , born August 27, 1874 , died January 31, 1961 , was the man who introduced the Japanese martial art of jujutsu in Sweden - first of all asian martial arts.
Viking Cronholm was the son of the deputy sheriff Axel Cronholm , founder of Jönköping's Legal Office. 1891 the family moved to Stockholm with swanky apartment on West Higgins Road and 11-room sommarvistet " Villa Metsola " on Lidingö. The young Cronholm was extremely interested in sports , but found no understanding of this in his upper-class family. To gain control of her son , the father took his son out of school and let him go to sea , which gave him a taste of what's to discover and learn in the world. 1891 - 1893 he trained as a physiotherapist at Liedbeckska Institute in Stockholm , and 1895 - 1900 he stayed in Chicago. Spare time was devoted to boxing, and he also won a championship title at competitions in Portland [ clarify ] . When he got back to Stockholm , he was using for his degree at Gustavus Zanders Medico - Mechanical Institute , an early forerunner of today's fitness .
30 years old and married Cronholm went 1904, to Cape Town in South Africa. There, he opened a private institute for physical therapy, but changed two years later practice against Ling gymnastics at the Carlton Hotel in Johannesburg. It was here that he learned jiu jitsu, of both English and Japanese instructors. The jujitsu he learned was probably the style that Jigoro Kano, judo 's founder, taught.
1907 started Cronholm jujitsu training in Fäktklubbens premises at Smålandsgatan in Stockholm . Among his early pupils belonged artist Bruno Liljefors and author Hasse Zetterstrom . In 1908 he published a small book called Jiu- Jitsu Tricks . Until the 1980s it appeared in no less than 34 editions . During the 1900s the first half , he was also a frequent instructor of police officers, military personnel and employees of the penitentiary ."
