I have the VCD series and hands down they are some of the best VCD's I have ever seen out of China. Very well done, and presented clearly. Well worth the $20 bucks or so!

Cheers
Jake

Jake, who is the teacher?

By Tim on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 06:30 pm: Edit Post

The teacher is Wang Renyung.

I agree with Jake, the vcd's are excellent.

The first thing that comes to mind is, I wonder how often those guys hit themselves in the nuts with those brick weight things. Second thought is, I bet the other shuai jiao guys get nervious when these guys show up to the competitions with bows.

I second that. My favorite part of the VCD is the conditioning. Very specific!!

very cool

the 'padlock' lifts they were doing were interesting variations on the KB swing.

75% or more of the throws looked like a very interesting style or flavor of throws that are also found in judo.

Throwing is throwing.

Is it Kuai Jiao - fast wrestling - on the vcds or is it some other style?

By Tai Chi BOB on Saturday, October 06, 2007 - 11:45 pm: Edit Post

It is Shuai Jiao, the Chinese name for wrestling, just like the thread says. Kuai Jiao is a unheard of "style"
It is a good book on Shuai Jiao though.

Yeah the part about locking defends punching, throwing defends locking, and punching defends throwing and the circle goes on and on is my favorite.

Typing with my Kuai zi for speed, i hope it's not too fast for the slow readers

What I meant was if itīs Baoding style on the vcd or itīs Beijing style

By Tim on Sunday, October 07, 2007 - 01:29 pm: Edit Post

I believe it's Beijing style.

Three styles of Chinese wrestling:

Beijing
Tianjin
Baoding (Kuaijiao)

ok
thanks for info Tim

Whatever

just say how you realy feel
and what you mean
There are styles of Shuai Jiao: Beijing; Tian Jin; Mongolian (Boke); and Bao Ding which is also referred to as Kuai Shuai (Fast Wrestling). There are diverse types of wrestling indigenous to the minority groups in China such as the Uighurs in Sinkiang and Yis in Yunan province.

I can tell that means alot to the kids in this clip
and if the "style" to your liking at least the ref is cute.

if you want to do Shuaijiao in China go to Tianjin, Baoing and Beijing as these 3 cities along with Xi Qi in Inner Mongolia have the best teachers and facilities
