I'm addicted to this book. This is the 3rd book I've bought of yours and I'm never let down.

Great photos, details and some things I've just never seen or thought of before...and I've seen a lot. Whether I can do it or not is another story.

Tim, why do you prefer books over video?

Thanks!

I can offer an answer- (thanks for liking the photos in Passing the Guard- Meynard and I took most of them).

In a book, Tim can say precisely what he needs to say, go back and make changes, triple-checking himself before the finished product is released.

On video- the lights are extremely hot (hot lights, blinding you), there are the inevitable technical difficulties, you can't get 'comfortable' and 'be yourself' because, you're on camera, and there are 7-10 people standing around depending on you to get it right (multiple times) and there's some director guy continually reminding you to 'get comfortable' and 'be yourself'.

Then, it's out of your hands. You've got to rely on some guy spending 3 months putting together what HE thinks looks best and conveys your message.

No offense intended to the past producers of Tim's videos, but those videos lacked the essence of what makes Tim such an enjoyable teacher. I think we've captured that in the soon to be released 'Standing Grappling' DVD.

I'm still planning to badger Tim into filming more DVDs in the near future. But his inclination to do another may be directly effected by the sucess of the 'Standing Grappling' DVD.

Spread the word.

Is there an expected release date?

Yep. Tim will have the finished version in his hands by this weekend.

The only step left is duplication and labling.
(there was one snag I couldn't correct- the microphones adjusted down for a second after loud throws (the opponent hitting the mat). You can always hear what Tim is saying, but 5 or 6 times during the footage, there's an obvious volume change)

Does anybody know where to get a copy of this book these days. On Amazon UK, the cheapest copy is going for £69 which is nearly 120 dollars.

Needless to say I am now regretting not buying a copy when it came out.

Thanks

Richard
