This is difficult to get across to most people I train. They want to pick the leg up. No! Rather...drive and the leg will come up.
From a clinching position, it's best done from an underhook. You slide your underhook hand down to his leg as you place your head in his chest...and drive.

Rich has good material. Very detail and concept driven, opposed to technique driven.
That certainly was a thorough explanation.
He is a little wordy. But at this point in my training words are very important.
i was so waiting to see the exact finish that he would use, or variations on finishes.
I thought that the video was pretty much the best explanation of a single I've heard, but I am no aficanado.
What I can say with confidence is this:
I know what it's like when a real master and great teacher presents a technique that 'everybody knows' and all of the sudden everyone walks away like they've been shown for the first time. He seems like that kind of teacher to a degree. I've had great judo players show me Ko or O Guchi Gari (very simple foot sweeps) in such a way that I walked away mouth agape and mind racing. I wish that we could all get that more often.
Oh! The Gene Mills videos are sweet. I am right about to watch him vs. Beloglazov from 81 worlds.
