Although I've never had the pleasure of training with David I have watched him fight.

I'd recommend attending his seminar based on watching his skill on the mat in competition alone.

I cannot say enough nice things about Mr. David Meyer and his teachings over the weekend. The seminar was well received and attended mostly by Brian Johnson's BJJ students, but a few others attended as well (including Mr. Fields). David spent half of the seminar covering techniques / applied-strategies from North-South position, then worked an open guard tutorial in the second half of the seminar.
Covering drills which cement the basics, then moving onto submissions, and (more importantly IMHO ;) ) transition's into said submission's. The time flew by, and before you know it the day was done.
I liked David's approach where he focused on basics, yet included enough detail's for even the more advanced belts in attendance. Whenever a question was posed he quieted the whole room so all could benefit, and truly made you feel as if you were the only one there!
He came with a great sense of humor, and an open attitude towards teaching with a willingness to share his understanding of the art of BJJ (this attitude is something I have noticed in the greats, and vice versa lacking in the not so greats!).
My only gripe (small one at best) is that we did not free roll towards the end. I know David was a bit under the weather, and the rest of us got to roll with him Friday night, but for those who could not make Friday it would have been a great experience to have.
Super nice guy. Articulate teacher. Wonderful weekend. Make sure you don't miss him the next time he is around!

Cheers
Jake :D
