NO ONE has this?? I thought at least one of you all would have. I am just curious as to how much history is in it, and how accurate it is?
Thanks
Jake

Well, that little logo on the top left hand corner that says "Black Belt" pretty much cinches it that it won't be anything I would buy!!

I have this one instead:

Kit
How is it? Never heard of it before.
I typically agree with you on your comment about BB publishing. Hence why I have been trying to find it in a bookstore so I can peep it out.

If you are interested in the combat competitions of the ancient Greeks, "Combat Sports in the Ancient World" is a must have.

Combat sports in the ancient world is the DEFINTIVE academic standard for this subject.
Noone speaks with more authority on the historical facts than Michael Poliakoff as far as i am conerned.

The Arvanitis books are ok for what they are worth (he also has some schools) and he is a great pioneer but the scholarship and research is awfully thin and he seems to simply cram together kickboxing, wrestling and add some jujjitsu to make his Pankration which for my money and other researchers is not nearly enough to do the subject a proper service. But its a good starter book but be aware that while dispelling some misinformation on Pankration he also tends to get fanciful himself and play a bit loose with the facts.

There are several other sources to work from, one by Kostas Dervenis which weill be translated into English in the coming year and another whose name escapes me.

In addition i do work on this subject myself and have most of my work online
http://historical-pankration.com there i have gathered together about 150 historical sources for heavy athletics in the classical Greco_roman world for researchers to work from.

I also host a Yahoo group on the subject which you can find from the website.
