Interesting film of a match between the great Lou Thesz and Vic Christie.

Although the match is a "work," the techniques are legitimate Catch wrestling, and it's interesting to see the exact parallels in technique between Catch wrestling and modern BJJ.

Look for the popular BJJ variation of the Valley Drop takedown, taking the back with the hooks in, the closed guard and guard break from 3:15 to 3:30, and the use of the half guard and lockdown starting at 6:00.

And notice how the match ends with a submission.

Thanks, Tim!

Lebell wrote a lot about how tough "really" Christie was in his book.

Good stuff.
