AFFLICTION: BANNED

I went to the Affliction show last night.

Seeing Fedor submit Tim Sylvia in half a minute reconfirms my belief Fedor is the best fighter alive. The most interesting aspect (for me) isn't his level of technical skill, it's his ability to remain absolutely calm and do the right thing at the right time, and his astounding ability to flow through whatever does not go to plan unperturbed and without hesitation.

I've seen it before, but not to Fedor's degree at that level of pressure and competition.

An interesting aside is that during the prefight interviews, Tim Sylvia spent his camera time talking about how he was going to hurt Fedor and mess up his face. Fedor talked about how he didn't deserve all the credit for his success, that it was a team effort and he couldn't do what he does without all the suppport he receives from others.

Tim,

I'm envious! I watched and loved it. Fedor and Randy C. are who I use as role models for my own fight style...in and out of the ring.

"No emotional attachment"...that's Fedor!

I am jealous Tim, I did not know you were going.

There's a video that highlights all the times that Fedor should have been out in a fight, the RandlePlex the most notable. 15 seconds after that suplex that spiked him directly on his head/neck, he was on top of Randleman GnP'ing him like he owed him money.

I like this own for it's inclusion of KBs and Kipping pull-ups

it's a no brainer when you consider how many years Fedor had been doing 'combat' Sambo before he entered MMA.

He just too experienced to not be totally relaxed. I think his attitude is the right one too. When you hear him speak, he is humble, but he is also a professional, with a very rational attitude towards what he is doing. It's difficult to not get emotional when you put a lot of ego into the fight. Fedor doesn't seem to make this mistake.

that is the right attitude, I like Anderson Silva for the same reason, they kick ass!
