So I am scrolling through this months black belt mag issue and all of a sudden I see pictures of Tim.....then I see the name Jake Burroughs a few times.... haha. What surprized me the most was that they were calling Tim, Jake. haha. Either way, it was a cool article and I dug the pics.
Actually that is Tim and Jake!
man, the author does not even get a copy sent!!
I welcome any feedback on the article.
Thanks,
Jake
Hey Jake, how come you didnt let us know? I only buy that mag when your articles are in it
Sorry. Buy the latest Black Belt / Kung Fu Taichi (yeah my article is not as nice as yours, but I am better looking;) / and in Nov buy the JAMA (Sun Taiji article).
Cheers
Jake
Thanks Jake, sorry for giving you a hard time ; ). I live deep in the woods and the magazines dont come so I have to plan a trip to the city to get them. As for the better looking... you wish! :P
I saw the Black Belt article today. It looks good. Kelly is correct, I am demonstrating the techniques but in the captions they refer to me as "Jake Burroughs."
lolz
one of you should be insulted.
Ha, now the Triads who've been coming for Tim will think he's changed his name to "Jake Burroughs"...
Your plan is complete.
p.s. Real Triads never miss an issue of Black belt magazine.
Funny story....
So I name my school Three Harmonies (body - mind -spirit) when I first open it up. In Chinese it is romanized as "San He." My Mantis teacher (who is Chinese) looks at my business card for a long time, and says....
"San he.... this is the name of Triads!" I think ahhhhhhh ! But so far no trouble;)
Cheers

I knew there was something fishy about jake! ;)
Just saw the piece. Not too bad. The captions are screwed up (thanks to the fabulous editing). But other than that they did not cut too much. Just like in Kung Fu Taichi piece I mention that I believe it to be a good idea to learn BJJ, Sambo, or some other form of ground grappling, and naturally they cut those parts out. Oh well. Overall looked good. Just trying to get word out about Tim and his DVD's!
Jake
What DVD? is Tim working on a new one? Do tell. Cheers
2 new DVDs are in pre-production. With a bit of luck they'll hit the market around March.

Shane
Share the topic at least brother!
Jake
There's a good chance one will be a comprehensive study of either Ba Gua Zhang, Tai Ji Chuan or Hsing-Yi Chuan (forms, apps and traditional excercises).
The other may be a Cartmellian exposition on strength training drills for the martial artist.
Tim's still deciding what he wants to cover. I'm trying to find a way to get Bob#2 back to LA to assist since he's been a good luck charm for the first two. People generally want things to go quickly and smoothly when B#2's present.
Shane
Sweet!
Awesome, Shane! I'd be down for both DVD's as I'm sure many would.
Would love to see a dvd of all Tims exercises AND how he strings em together.
Hsing i , ba gua exercises would be cool too.
I have a DVD of Tim doing all of his exercises and how he strings them together.
If Tim, Shane and Bob #2 decide to put this out, I would strongly suggest you guys pick it up.
For those of you who are lucky to train with him, you do these exercises (in various forms) in his classes. These exercises are a great solo way to practice, that's based on the functional movements you will be using in a fighting situation. To satisfy the folks more interested fitness/health, these exercises are really excellent to make you fit too.
I have my guys in my class (in greater Boston area) do many of these exercises every class.
My new students who focus on these exercises progress at a really great rate because they form good habits and get in good shape by doing the exercises.
Tim has spent a tremendous amount of time and energy in developing these exercises. I am really honored that he's letting me share them with my guys.
Again, if Tim puts them out, pick it up.
If any of you folks have his "Ground Proofing" DVD, you get a glimpse of some of the solo exercises and how they are used in a practical fighting application.
If you are close to me, everyone is welcome to come train with me in the greater Boston area. I'm planning to bring Uncle Tim out sometime after the New Year too. I'll post something about it and if you want Privates or just want to come to the seminar, let me know.
Good training,
Joe
