This is a new Canadian site. http://judo4mma.com I applaud their efforts. They have a few good concepts, but these guys obviously haven't really fought/sparred MMA, for if they had most of the throws (90%) would be from the over/under position. Don't get me wrong, I'm a "collar tie maniac", but it's taken years to learn how to just hold the position and more years to learn how to hold it while someone is trying to punch me and years to learn how to pull off only a handful of throws from the position...while someone is punching me. I don't care what your judo credentials are...most of the throws just won't happen in an MMA environment without a few years of training them...as someone is trying to hit you.

Most of the throws are ok for just grappling, but MMA?

I find that many people in "pure" or original arts (whether it's karate, wrestling, Judo, TCMA, BJJ, TKD, sambo...) have this fantasy of what will work in MMA or when someone is trying to "knock your head off". If they would just put on the gloves and actually try to do some of the things "they think" will work, they'll not only have a new appreciation for MMA, but their tactics will also change.

Again, good general throwing concepts...just not MMA.

Well said!

Same goes for the "When an opponent shoots in 'like' a wrestler..." groups that teach "anti-grappling" techniques, who have never actually met a trained grappler.
