For the last 15 years I've been explaining to people how the principles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are fundamentally the same as the principles of the "Internal Martial Arts" (at least as I teach them).
Here are a few quotes from Grandmaster Helio, taken from this month's Graciemag:
"A lot of people know everything I know, the difference is carrying out the same moves without using force."
"I'm always relaxed, whether I'm awake or asleep. The moment someone makes a move on me, the contraction of their muscles lets me know beforehand, and since I have quicker reflexes, I'm ahead of them and defend. No one can surprise me."
"Learning Jiu Jitsu is a subconscious process, not a conscious one."
Excellent!
I agree,
It is observable to the trained eye. One reason i became a lurker here is because i saw it in Tims movements, i knew he was for real. Judo will teach you this skill too, to some degree.
"...Judo will teach you this skill too, to some degree."
I would say to a high degree. As well as, boxing, kickboxing, sambo and all forms of wrestling.
It's all up to the athlete.
