Shocking! It seems that the guys head was filled with blood before he could notice that he was being choked and tap out. If they want to really protect these fighters, then they need ref's who know how to catch these things. Was this asphyxiation? or due to the carotid artery being sealed off and therefore preventing blood flow to the brain?

He turned blue, that was amazing how th other guy just took an ass whoopin to land that potentially fatal technique.

I gotta work on my triangle... But i have trouble wrapping my stubby little legs around things...lol

It's an actual technique, but I've never seen in in MMA and never standing.

yes, that's a standard way to apply the triangle in judo, San Gyaku Jime!
That's the way most triangles are applied in judo competition for there is little time for guard work. You get it once they turtle. Yet, I've never seen someone stand up once it was applied.

Are those things like concussions? How many "Knocked Unconscious Due to Asphyxiation/Lack of Blood Circulation to the Brain" does a person get in life before it starts to take out some brain cells?

By Tim on Tuesday, May 05, 2009 - 08:46 pm: Edit Post

Stephen,

They are not at all like concussions, a concussion requires concussive impact.

As long as the pressure is released soon after unconsciousness, no harm is done.
