Huge congratulations to Asa Fuller for winning the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) USA Trials West Championship & earning, that’s right, earning, his way to compete in the 2009 ADCC World Championships to be held in Barcelona, Spain! Asa will be 1 of 16 WORLDWIDE competitors in his weight division participating in the event! While many have been trying, & probably are still trying, to get a free competitor’s pass into the event based on who they are, who they know, and/or on what they have done in the past, Asa went to the campus of Cal State University Dominguez Hills during this past Memorial weekend & stuck it to the competition at the tender young age of 38 years old!

“Stop talking about it & be about it!”

Broom, there’s a new Sheriff in town! Last I understood, a Sheriff is above the Police in rank! So bow down bitch!

The 2009 ADCC World Championships event (Barcelona, Spain) is to take place at the end of September with exact dates to be announced soon!

I wish Asa the very best in Barcelona & again congratulations Asa!

Very Truly,
Sidekick Bruce

P.S. I may as well ask, since I know at least a few probably already have asked, but do coaches or sidekicks get to go for free with you? You know, perhaps you might need a qualified sidekick to be at your side . . . you know, to be able to read, understand & apply the rules, someone who knows some of the referees & committee members, etc. By the way, the beauty of being a sidekick is there are no commission fees levied on any of your winnings, well maybe a beer or two, but that’s it!

Big congratulations to Asa!

Not only did he win the trails, he won every match by submission!

Asa and I have trained together since he started BJJ, he's one of the hardest working fighters I've ever known, and deserves his chance at the ADCC world title.

Asa and his partner Chris "The Broom" Thue have recently opened their own academy, Ace Jiu JItsu in Fountain Valley CA. Contact them at (714) 964-4488

I don't wanna know why he calls his "partner", "the broom"...w

"Sick sweeps from the guard" is how the Broom would explain it.

Congrats to Asa. He won his first match, yet got beat in his second. Both were great fights. He was playing with the best of the best! Hope someday to get to roll with the "Broom"

Cheers
Jake

Asa did great, submitted his first opponent pretty quickly, and put up a good fight in the second round losing on points.

Congratulations to my friend, ASA FULLER, on his 1ST MATCH VICTORY, & by ARMBAR SUBMISSION nonetheless!

While the other 8 lost, & many, many more only wish they could be there competing, Asa stepped up & put himself amoung the top 8 in this prestiges worldwide championship! In the qurterfinals, Asa lost on points to Roberto "Cyborg" Abreau, who is one tough mother f'er & who ended up losing on points to our friend, Fabricio Werdum in the finals! What a great accomplishment for a 38 yr old kid!

Have a safe trip home! Oh, and tell Werdum, dinner & drinks are on him when he gets back, & I'm on the invitee list!

Congrats to Asa! If he hasn't yet settled on a 'fightin' name, I suggest "Asa Spades Fuller"
