The film, which is dubbed in Russian, is (I think) the one film Kurosawa did on judo, his first film called Suganta Sanshiro.
If I remember the plot right, the older dying guy was the other guys first jiujitsu teacher. The younger guy had switched over to judo and then they met in a jiujitsu vs. judo showdown.
