I'm reading the Championship Fighting PDF and I was wondering if modern boxing gyms teach Dempsey's punching method. He teaches to use a vertical fist instead of the traditional horizontal. He also teaches to drop your weight into your punch when jabbing as opposed to the peppering jabs used to set up bigger punches.
Does modern boxing teach any of Dempsey's method? It doesn't seem so to me when I watch boxing but Im not an expert on the subject of boxing.
I don't know about all of modern boxing in general, but the boxing coaches I've trained with teach straights and hooks with the palm facing downward in general.
As far as Dempsey's stepping method, shoulder whirl and many of his other concepts, they are similar to what my coaches teach.
That's pretty interesting.
Dempsey knew xyq.
No they don't...unless they do Jun Fan.
