Both of these styles have similar hand positions in their respective fighting stances. Any reasons for this similarity. Don't know much about Thai boxing but I think the Yiquan on-guard hand posture is used to help close the gap and make contact and adhere to the opponent's limbs better or maybe just peng him away.
