It's good to see someone being honest and laying out reality to those kids. I teach the exact same things to my classes- but I do it while screaming and throwing things around.

(my students are mostly elderly and my method helps keep them awake).

Matt talks a good game, but there are a few problems with his logic, and I could never practice the way he says, because:

My techniques are too deadly to do live. I know they work though, because my teacher's grand master killed some guys with them in the Ming Dynasty.

I don't need to be in good shape to hit dim mak points. Besides, I can get in alot better shape holding meditative postures than by actually doing cardio.

I have learned secret lessons from my teacher to help me cultivate chi. I wasn't sure I really had chi, but my teacher told me I do, so I'm signing up for more secret lessons. Sure, the lessons are expensive, but who can put a value on chi power.

Sparring isn't realistic, pretending to fight imaginary opponents while I'm alone is more realistic (cause I really get to pretend kill them).

When I practice techniques with my partner, he can't resist because he would be killed instantly by a wristlock or tiger claw to his meridians.

So you other guys keep on doing your silly conditioning and full contact sparring. One day, when a real martial artists (one with chi and dim mak) wins the UFC, you'll be lining up to train with my teacher.

I think that will ring true for a lot of people who have been training "alive" and against various styles of opponents. The "truth" has no patent, it's just not heard by many.
