Making space = lead into emptiness?

Tim's Discussion Board: Concepts : Making space = lead into emptiness?

Just cracked open "The Gaurd - BJJ Details and Techniques Vol II" and besdies the obvious fact that I like the book, I noted that the early application of snake moves (tried it out during wrestling in class friday) has pretty much the same timing and feel as leading into emptiness. You wait for the guy to commit forward, and then you vacate where he was set to go. It seems these guys are using similar concepts to the internal MA, but the mechanics are more specific to the ground. I'm sure I'm not the only person to notice this, but I must admit until now I never realized before how close they were.

So far everything is working nicely. Unusual for me.

Hey I'm interested in purchasing this book "the guard". I see on amazon that there is a "Passing the Guard" (2003) and "the Guard" (2005). Anybody know if "the guard" is a new reprint of "passing the guard"? or do I need to buy both?

"Passing the Guard" is the first book we did on guard passes, submissions from the guard position and attacking the turtle position.

"The Guard" is the second book by Grappling Arts Publications and features Joe Moreira teaching offensive techniques from the guard position.

I took a look at these books today. Anybody know of any video that references the moves with the book? A video of the book contents would sure be nice.
