The Wrathful Diety.

Tim's Discussion Board: Concepts : The Wrathful Diety.

In ancient Tibet the wrathful Diety was a frequent subject of mandalas. To the western eye these deities appear very demon like and horrific. This was exactly what they were inteded to do. One of the ways to awaken the mind or consciousness was the use of scarifying tactics.
This is much more than than wearing a scary halloween mask and waking a friend up standing over him/her in the morning and seeing what happens! Make sure you stay out kicking/punching range!!!!!
It represents a way of awakening the slumbering giant in us. Sometimes, be it through drug use, or obsession, a good shock to the system is needed.
One of the ways to do this is through insulting someone. Not only does a persons response allow an aperture through which to view the inner "them" it allows for the ability to control them through a direct insulting confrontation.
Not everyone needs these tactics and not all the time. And hence the benificient or angelic bhuddhas and deities were represented as well.
Martial Arts instructors are quite familiar with alot of these tactics and will be first to tell you that msot people run the other direction with all kinds of negative and derogatory statements. Thats fine. It is not for them. It is for those who remain and learn to question themselves and think about why their instructor is doing what they are doing.
On this board many people have become wrathful deities at one time or another. Senior V is a shining example. Master Cartmell is well, particularly when he puts his foot down. As well yours truly is guilty of the above mentioned concepts. It is important to remember that hate is not the idea but awakening is.
If you think to your life their will be many examples where being a wrathful deity has served a great purpose. Defense of ones life is in this same category. The truth of any self defense situation is that in order to win you must commit a superior form of violence to that which you are faced. In this moment, peace loving by nature or not, you are as a wrathful deity.

Hey Hopp, Senior V checking in on my Fan Club and the little heathens (quirelitos).

Cool post but well beyond the grasp or at least above the intellectual usefulness for the majority of this crowd.

I wonder about your choice of the word "guilty" though has le Jacque espouses to the theory that guilt occurs from bad behavior spurned by mal intent.

Regarding protecting your life. If you get into the position of defending yourself with violence, than you do not understand positioning. Those who do this need to reread Harris's interpretation of the Book of Five Rings about ten or twenty times.

Offense is the key. Offense does not necessarily mean striking, it means pro-action.

You can win way before the fight begins if you use strategy and pick your challenges. A perfect example: Senior V and the majority of morons on this board. A slam dunk - big fish /small pond. I won before I began.

So now you see. Placement and strategy is the vanguard of success. Although techniques are a prerequisite of elementary kung fu education, they are not to be dwelled upon. The higher levels require positioning skill on the big mat, life, not just body movements on the little mat.

It’s like the difference between the little head and the big head.

Goota run - bigger fish to fry.

Keep up the good work in my absence. The Vincent Deity. (Is that like the Da Vinci Code?).

Hey app, Saludos a el Pan!
