Hi Tim, was wondering if you have heard of the Dantien described kind of like a muscular ball , if you will, located in the area between the hips. I have actually felt with my hand on some practicioners lower stomach above the pubic area and below the navel..and felt it move. I don't know if that was some kind of trick or not. I have also heard and read of it described that way as well. That this muscular "ball" is developed over the years and is flexed or kinda bounced in the direction that u want to issue force in. Kinda like a pool cue... the cue hits the ball and the ball goes in whatever direction you are aiming. But in this case the cue would be the dantien...hope u understand what i mean by this.I was wondering what your take on this is, and have you ever heard of this or experienced it.
I don't mean a force like a "energy" or anything mystical. More of a "momentum" or jolt...hard to put into terms.
Bob,
Are you talking about the abdominal muscles? They can certainly move. I'm not aware of any type of muscles in the lower abdomen that form a "ball." Which muscles are you referring to?
perhaps it's the way that they are manipulated?
the muscles of the stomach.. coordinate? to form a circular.. ball-like mass of muscle...
a circular ball like mass...hmmm... how low are you referring? bawaahahaha !!!
apprentice here,
the only thing i would be able to think of is the muscles in the solar plexes, but those are more square in shape.

Are you possibly referring to the tan tien? Called the ocean of the chi, the point where the chi is produced or strengthened. It is supposed to be located 1 3/8 to 1 5/8 inches below the navel. It is the spot where one concentrates when doing chi kung/nei kung exercises designed to build chi power.
I have never heard any reference to a muscular ball that developes physically here but much else does develop and eminate from the tan tien.
