Filmed back in August, Lt. Col. Nagl discusses writing the US Army Counterinsurgency Field Manual, describing counterinsurgency training as "the graduate level of war."

Nagl: "The person that you're fighting with today... may turn out to be your [ally] several years later"

Yes, I guess many of us are lucky to not be in a combat situation like that, and are left to apply advice like 'be polite, be professional, be prepared to kill' as a metaphor in business situations and dating.

It is also a good argument for comprehensive veteran support for when our troops come home.
