Maybe this is more of a question for Tim since he coined the phrase.
- How similar are the concepts of awareness in Tru Balance to that in Alexander Technique?
- Do you have any book on this?
- Would Tim's qigong book be beneficial for back recovery, and be accessible to someone with no qigong training?
I'm asking from the point of view of someone who is recovering from chronic back pain & sides imbalance,
not a martial artist. At the moment I'm using chek-based exercises and taichi, and considering Alexander Technique.
Thanks
RJ
(hoping to get back to triathlon & rock climbing next year)
I've never studied the Alexander Technique, I've only read about it. I'd say the basic premise is the same as my Tru Balance method places a strong emphasis on the position of the head. Whether or not my other guidelines of alignment and movement are similar to the Alexander Technique, I couldn't say.
There is a booklet that is included with the instructional DVD, but no book on the subject per say. The bulk of the theory is included in my book "Effortless Combat Throws."
My method is not "qigong." Many people have found it useful in realigning their spines and strengthening their backs.
Thanks Tim.
I'll have a look at your book.
