have you learned anything else from martial arts, besides how to fight?
I have, but i would like to hear your story first.
Robert, besides learning how to kick some butt. I have learnt about the historical background of these systems, become a friend of many martial arts scholars, having the chance to visit places in China with a rich cultural heritage, learn from excellent teachers like Tim and the best of all married a wonderful Chinese girl!
What else can I ask? Cheers
I've learned how to deal with my own ego in defeat. Many who train MA without resistance are unbearably arrogant, theorizing their deadliness. That is not often so in schools with live training.
Indeed, judo, bjj, etc. are excellent methods of learning humility.
Well put Sugarshrimp.
SugarShrimp beat me to it.
I will only add; better at keeping my cool in a stressful situation as well.
Bob#2 learned how to fight without fighting.

That's why I named my site the study within. I don't forsee myself hopefully ever using this stuff other than competition. But every time I train, I learn a little bit about myself.
It's just a vehicle for continued growth - and chicks...
Bob#2 is a F*&^$in' ZEN MASTER!!!
If I was a chick, I'd be all over him...

If you were a chick Bob#2 would split you like wet pine.
Something else Bob#2 learned from a life of martial arts; Bob#2 REALLY likes it when dames call Bob#2 "Master"
