Training dilema

Tim's Discussion Board: Concepts : Training dilema

I have a dilema at the moment which i am trying to resolve but need some advice which is greatly appreciated.

At the moment i am studying taiji and i am very interested in the martial aspects and applications, however, this is missing in a major way from my training. There is a class focusing on the fighting aspects but it is very difficult to get to. The majority of my training is done at home by myself, so the class environment gives me the opportunity for partner work.

So do i
a) carry on as i am practising my long form, qigong and other forms.
b) have a word with the instructor, air my issues and see what happens
c) find a class that i can get to on a regular basis where there is regular two person work.
d) another suggestion that i cant think of!!

The dilema also broadens as i really like the instructor, and potentailly what he can offer in a martial sense. I have been with him for 3 years. Also, the guys I train with are a cracking bunch and would dearly miss them.

Move on or stay?

Many thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,
If you like your teacher and fellow students, I would talk to the teacher about finding some way to work applications and sparring into your training. You may not be the only student in your class that wants to practice fighting.
