Jing which is the hormone that is harnessed through martial training, chi is the energy byproduct, and shen is the ability to keep a peaceful and clear mind, yet still being able to draw upon your jing and chi energy. Am I right? Is this what the ancient literature means by converting jing into chi, and chi into shen? Im guessing that one who fails to train daily and harness the three treasures will start to develop issues...like me.

Jing is the kidney essence that is given to babies by their parents. It is finite and you die when it runs out. Those born with an essence deficiency experience things like stunted growth, teeth growing in funny, slow mental development, weak bones, etc. Everyone has different amounts of jing and this is very visible. Some people look very young throughout their lives. Others go bald at age 19. Some can party, get laid, do every drug known to Earth(Motley Crew) and do it all over again the next day with little ill effects. Others need to go to bed at 8pm sharp or they'll be sluggish for the whole next day. We all fall into the middle of the two extremes.

Shen is the brightness in your eyes when you greet people with a smile. Shen is what gets you out of bed in the morning. Shen is what allows you to train with your buddies on the mat. Shen is you. Your jing combined with the air you breathe and the food you eat makes for a weak or strong shen. Hope this helps

Thank you for the information timber i really do appreciate it.

My question was more directed towards the transmutation of jing and qi into shen. I have been studying by myself about traditional chinese literature and have a pretty good idea of what the three harmonies are in terms of applicable use.

i was just looking for a confirmation, or perhaps now that i think of it, just a few words of encouragement...

I wonder how someone who actually understands how to read ancient Chinese would explain Jing and Shen.

In a nutshell, "jing" refers to hormones and sperm, liquid things;
"chi" refers to "air" or oxygen in the blood, gaseous things; "shen" refers to the energy of the brain and nerves, electric things.

Mick Mars had a disease where his bones or maybe his spine was fusing. In their book it said he would not be able to move eventually. He was also older than the other guys. I was referring more to Nikki Six and Tommy Lee

I saw him on celeberty rehab- and it look like his brain had gelled
I liked the episode where he was stoned out of his lil' mind
I guess the stroke Shen jing binged his chi nuts
