I'm back. I was in San Diego this week doing martial arts coreography for a movie. If it is picked up (most likely by the WB), it will be the first time traditional Ba Gua Zhang is featured in an American film. I'll let everyone know when the show will air.
What about the Bagua that Jet Li used in "The One"?
Allow me to explain....
1- one fight scene isn't 'featured'.
2- was 'The One' an American Film?-- no.
3- Was what Jet Li did 'traditional Bagua'
I couldn't tell.

Hey Tim,
Just wondering if you have any more information about when the show will air? It's called 'Black Sash,' right? I'm looking forward to seeing the Gao style forms on TV.
Steven
Tim, is there a reason you chose Bagua instead of Xing-Yi or a blend of what you know, or is there something about the film's plot that dictates one art?
MFM,
As far as I know, the show is supposed to air in Spring on the WB.
Kenneth,
I'm flattered you'd think I had any say in what martial art was chosen for the show! The reason I was hired was the screen writer, Robert Kaman (the guy who wrote the scripts for the "Karate Kid" movies) is practicing Baguazhang now and had the hero of the show (Russel Wong) as a Bagua expert.
Well, I'm sure they woulda been much better off letting you decide.
hey ther is a black sash website now, it says it is going to air in march, and it's going to be on sundays, However it dosent mention anything about you tim, I'm going to wright them a letter and ask how they know there ba gua is authintic
Try using authentic English spelling when you write them.

Sounds pretty cool! If it takes off, I can't wait to see all the "Bagua experts" springing up everywhere, LOL!
Kenneth Sohl,
BINGO!
It happens every time.
But, if Tim's given credit, then he'll get beau-coup student applications.
If they air it with his sillouhette (sp?) performance, Amber will have to organize his time for all the hotties, and BBB will want become his under study. I can't wait to see it. Seriously Tim, I hope it brings you more success, the kind you deserve and can take to the bank. I guess we need to get you back up here before you're booked two years in advance. I'm enjoying the new book, and I just want to say thanks. Our grappling class is starting back up on Monday. Talk to you soon.
Bob
Thanks Bob,
I do a couple stunt falls. Look for the pained look on my face when I land (the only example of my acting skills).
That's one of the great things about you Tim, you don't need to "act", just be!
Here's the link to the trailer for "Black Sash"
the new TV series about a Ba Gua teacher.

If you pause- while viewing the clip- you should be able to use the Arrow keys to advance or rewind frame by frame.
If you look (very carefully) you'll see me landing on the mat, with my best pained expression. I'm wearing a blue shirt
"Black Sash" is slated for this coming Sunday at 9pm on Channel 5 (if I heard correctly).
This is for the southern California area (times & channels may vary elsewhere -- so check your local listings).
Please, DOUBLE-CHECK THE TIME for "Black Sash" in this area (if you're local)... I caught part of an ad that said Sunday, Channel 5, after a special episode of "Charmed" that starts at 7pm. If this "Charmed" episode isn't two-hours long, then "Black Sash" may start earlier than I wrote in the above post.
It was 9pm here...
And they got in some good shots of Tim -- posing as a student of the main character (the shots of Tim were clear, unlike in the teaser).
