How come in movies

Tim's Discussion Board: Off Topic : How come in movies

people always die from chokes rotgut after they go unconscious. In real life in martial arts and mms competitions people choke each other all the time and no one dies. It would be real hard ai imagine accidentally killing someone from a choke unless you held it for like minutes after unconsciousness.

Like in lord of the rings return of the king. When smeagal chokes the guy he dies right awaynin the beginning of the movie tot take the ring. And he uses a crrappy two handed choke based on fingered. Would it really be possible tot kill someone like that?

Maybe if you were Smeagal.

Any type of choke that actually collapses the trachea could result in death, it's not likely to happen from standard chokes used in grappling or MMA competition.

Smeagal = Smeagol + Seagal ?
It did look that Steven found the One Ring:

Here's a little know fact for you Enforcer, not everything in the movies is true.

Tim, this brings up a good question though. What about the belt chokes in bjj some instructors I've had taught choking out while using belts Or lapels. Wouldn't those be trachea collapsing? Like the smeagal choke?

By robert on Thursday, February 16, 2012 - 10:28 pm: Edit Post

A collapsed trachea is one that will not open again. When you choke someone, you are usually just sealing the trachea, when you release it reopens, not actually collapsing it.

Seagal was accused of what? Good lord...

Most lapel chokes are deigned to squeeze the sides of the neck, I doubt there would be enough force in them to actually collapse the trachea with soft cloth.

In over 100 years of Judo/Jujutsu competition, I don't believe anyone has died of a choke/strangulation technique.

What about if you choke someone with a t shirt or a bed sheet. How are those more dangerous than a gi or a belt? You hear of inmates killing each other with such stuff how is that possible? Is it more dangerous or do they hold it for a long time or just press harder?

And how would they even know how long to hold it for?

I applied that smeagal choke to myself a second ago and actually felt naseous if you apply it on the bottom of the neck. Is it possible to actually choke someone out just by grabbing their throat like that like form mount? Also I found this:

How come some people just get choked out and others die?

You can blackout while being choked, if you are not resuscitated, you can go into shock and die, i think... Same thing with being knocked out.

By Tim on Friday, February 24, 2012 - 06:34 pm: Edit Post

In general, there is no need to resuscitate someone after they have been choked out, they will come to in a few seconds on their own. They will not go into shock.

What if you choke them out mid-sky dive, like 007 and that big white guy who started the whole 'grill' fad.

If you choked someone out and they 'come to' during the free fall... I say they go into shock.

If it is hard to kill someone even when choking them with objects like clothes, why do the jailers and cops charge inmates with attempted murder who use shoe laces to choke each other out and such? They don't charge people this high of a crime for using their hands but even something like a shirt may, why?

I was watching a documentary on msnbc about the oc jail and some peni guy (death squad) I think named James Williams or something used shoe kaces to choke another guy out and he claimed he was trying to kill him. And they charged him with attempted murder -- before he even claimed it I think just for the act.

Also how do you explain this guy being able to kill with just a sheet?

Did he just hold it longer or how was he able to do it you think?

Really? I didnt know that. I thought people could die if they are choked out...

Yeah, i just threw the "go into shock" thing to try and sound smart. It always backfires on me when there are actual smart people around. But it works on girls.

"If it is hard to kill someone even when choking them with objects like clothes, why do the jailers and cops charge inmates with attempted murder who use shoe laces to choke each other out and such?"

Because inmates intent on killing someone won't stop choking when the victim passes out.

How long do they have to hold it to make sure thhtough? I just need to know in case I become an inmate and have to kill someone to prevent butt seckz.

By Enforcer on Monday, February 27, 2012 - 04:14 pm: Edit Post

Also, if you just snap the neck from a rear naked by twisting it, is that enough or do you still have to keep choking?

A real tough guy would wait til the exact perfect moment, clinch up and rip off the attacker's d+ck. Leaving him d+ckless is much worse than killing a man.

Practice with a banana and work your way up to a closet rod.
