why is it silly. If it can poison and possibly kill the enemy? In todays world you dont want to kill people but in ancient times this could have been a very useful skill.

I suppose that it's possible that such skills could be developed; but it seems to be an unreasonable amount of risk for the practitioner who could more easily learn fighting skills that don't necessitate relying on poisoning an opponent who might well live long enough to kill him anyway.

I have been told once or twice over the years that poison-hand training was actually hardening and sharpening one or more fingernails and coating them with poison or, alternatively, wearing a ring with a venomous coating of some kind on the striking hand.

Both such options sound safer for the wielder; but still can't guarantee that the victim can't get you before he dies.

Better to stick with sweat and hard-work instead of looking for martial answers that sound like they should be advertised in a 50s comic book.

Poison palm or hand has nothing to do with soaking your hand in some super secret concoction. But, if your so sure it is go head and do so I'll be glad to read your obituary and chalk it up as one less idiot in the world.

Chemists loss an average of 10 years their lives. How long do you think do you think someone who poision themself, again and again is gonna last.

if you read the bottom of the ninth paragraph on:
http://www.metal-tiger.com/YinYanText.htm

It says:
"Yang tried his best technique, The Poison Hand, but still to no effect. Eventually Yang collapsed on the ground from sheer exhaustion. When he could speak again, Yang begged to become Yin's student and Yin agreed."

Nice stories; Are you a martial artist or just another fantasizer?

isn't that clear?

The Iron Bastard, it doesn't matter what I am because the person who wrote those stories is a martial artist. I mean why else write about martial arts if you dont practise them yourself?

"... why else write about martial arts if you don't practise them yourself?"

Possible Answer: to make money as a writer or to put your fantasies on paper because you're too lazy or unsuited to real martial arts training.

Are those who make porn movies necessarily great lovers?

Are those who do the screenplays for movies like Troy and Hero necessarily able to manage a spear and shield or execute a "Double Leaping Fish Fingers of Death Technique"?

Anyone read this book?

http://www.wle.com/products/b013.html

The poison hand is mentioned:

"Once treasured secrets of the Shaolin monks, their incredible techniques are the magic power of legends. Revealed are the methods behind the legendary techniques such as Five-Poison Hand, Iron Shirt, Iron Sands, Flying Arts, and many more!"

Tim,

We're there any renowned female martial artists of this time?

None that were as famous as the males. But that doesn't mean there weren't any outstanding female martial artists then.
