I used to work at a convention center and for a number of years we had the cop shop come in a give demos and offer products etc.....
I watched the police dog training, guy in a big padded suit, they shoot a gun with blanks and the dog attacks. The guy in the suit would always turn as if to run away at which point the dog would jump and bite and hang on to his shoulder for a take down.
Knowing this can be of great importance for beating the hell out a mutt.
So is knowing that it is the same as assult on police officer and can land you in jail for a very long time.
P.S. southern dragon form kung fu will rip the head of almost any 4 legged animal. The "dragon" clamps its jaws around the head and twists. bye-bye.
